May is Osteoporosis Awareness and Prevention Month! Take steps to raise awareness.

This May during Osteoporosis Awareness and Prevention Month, take steps—literally—to help raise awareness about osteoporosis, support those affected, and promote better bone health for all.

Through our #WalkAMileADayInMay and #TakingStepsTogether initiative, we invite you to walk, stairstep, run, or hike your way through the month to help spread the word and build a stronger community. Whether you're walking in honor of a loved one, for your own health, or simply to be part of something meaningful, your steps matter!

Research also shows that 1 in 2 women and up to 1 in 4 men over the age of 50 will break a bone due to osteoporosis. But walking just a little each day can help lower the risk.

You can create your own fundraising page, join a team, or simply walk and raise awareness your way. However you choose to participate, we hope you’ll Walk a Mile a Day in May—just 2,000 steps a day—and help us take steps toward a future with fewer fractures and stronger bones for all.

By participating in this challenge, you can raise much-needed funds to support BHOF’s efforts to improve patient care, assist those who have broken bones due to osteoporosis, and educate the public about this chronic but preventable disease.

The Bone Health & Osteoporosis Foundation (BHOF) is the leading health organization dedicated to preventing osteoporosis and broken bones, promoting strong bones for life, and reducing human suffering through programs of public and clinician awareness, education, advocacy and research. Established in 1984, BHOF is the nation’s largest health organization solely dedicated to osteoporosis and bone health.
