My mother, Mary Van Pilsum, was diagnosed with severe osteoporosis a few years ago. Watching her face this challenge and make hard but meaningful lifestyle changes has fueled my passion for raising awareness and support for the fight against Osteoporosis. This year, I'm especially honored to run my first New York City marathon alongside her to raise money for the Bone Health & Osteoporosis Foundation. Every mile (both training & on course) will be dedicated to raising awareness for osteoporosis and helping advance BHOF's mission to improve bone health for future generations. The Bone Health & Osteoporosis Foundation (BHOF) is the leading health organization dedicated to preventing osteoporosis and broken bones, promoting strong bones for life, and reducing human suffering through programs of public and clinician awareness, education, advocacy and research.
The Bone Health & Osteoporosis Foundation's mission has never been more critical: osteoporotic fractures are responsible for more hospitalizations than heart attacks, strokes, and breast cancer combined. People’s experience with osteoporosis varies greatly, but the good news is that it is manageable disease. But we need your help!
