Running for Jean!
Running for Grammy, Jean Anselmi
Hi, I'm Kim! Welcome to my page and my story! I'm more than excited to run on behalf of the Bone Health & Osteoporosis Foundation in the NYC Marathon 2025!
I'm also running on behalf of my late grandmother, Jean, who all the grandchildren called "Grammy". She lived a long, eventful life but unfortunately suffered from a osteoporosis diagnosis in her later years. I lived with her for 20 years and saw every day how an osteoporosis diagnosis effects an individual and their family. In 2019, she had 6 back fractures concurrently. She would wear back braces, add more protein into her diet, take up new exercise regimens, but the diagnosis just compounded on top of and worsen other health issues. Her health problems spiraled and she tried too late. I witnessed her deterioration for years until her passing in August of 2021 at just 54lbs (yes, pounds, not kilograms!).
The diagnosis took so much of her strength for so long. She was like another parent to me and I couldn't have her there for my wedding, when my husband and I bought a house, and she won't be able to meet my own children one day.
Living a healthy and clean lifestyle is a core principal of mine. And by spreading awareness, maybe somebody will look to their future and the life they built, and the people they surrounded themself with, and want to make changes in their everyday life so that they can spend as much time here as they can in health and happiness.

On behalf of the Bone Health & Osteoporosis Foundation, I would like to thank you for your generous support of the 2025 BHOF “Be Bone Strong” NYC Marathon Team! This is a cause near and dear to my heart.
Their mission has never been more critical: osteoporotic fractures are responsible for more hospitalizations than heart attacks, strokes, and breast cancer combined. People’s experience with osteoporosis varies greatly, but the good news is that it is manageable disease. But we need your help!
The Bone Health & Osteoporosis Foundation (BHOF) is the leading health organization dedicated to preventing osteoporosis and broken bones, promoting strong bones for life, and reducing human suffering through programs of public and clinician awareness, education, advocacy and research. Established in 1984, BHOF is the nation’s largest health organization solely dedicated to osteoporosis and bone health. You can find them at https://www.bonehealthandosteoporosis.org.
Our “Be Bone Strong” team will work to raise much-needed funds to help BHOF improve patient care, support those who have broken bones due to osteoporosis, and educate the public about this chronic but preventable disease.
Thanks for supporting me!
